Submit to which Search Engines?
I DON'T submit to 50,000 Search Engines!
Why? Because there aren't 50,000 search engines out there. In fact, there are only a few hundred that matter - so I only submit to those that matter.
There
are drawbacks of blasting away at everything in sight;
(a) you can end up with endless SPAM email (I tried it. Once.) - and
(b) there's no point submitting your web site to thousands of irrelevant
listings sites. Who will look for Guitar Pickups in a listing of Game Reserves
in Gambia?
Just SIX search engines account for about 93% of all web searches. The rest are handled by niche specialist search engines that appeal to particular markets. By careful selection of the more important minority, I cover more than 98% of what is out there.
I could submit to as many as 400 search engines in more than 40 countries; but many of these will only accepts listings in their own language. For simplicity, and to keep your costs down, I do not submit to paid inclusion web sites, unless you ask me to do so. In my experience, there is little to be gained. Normally I provide search engine submission to about 100-130 of the very best.
